Recycling

The Township of Georgian Bluffs contracts out the pickup of recycleable materials.  Blue Boxes are $6 and Composters are $30 and can be purchased at the Township office in Springmount.

A schedule and acceptable material list is set out on the calender below.

E-Waste

The Township landfill site has now qualified to take electronic waste free of charge as part of the Ontaraio Electronic Stewardship Program.  A full listing of acceptable materials can be found here - http://www.ontarioelectronicstewardship.ca/materials/materials.html

Garbage Collection

In 2009 Council enacted By-law 74-2009 wherein each bag of garbage would require a tag.  These may be purchased at the office or various locations throughout the township.   As per the by-law, garbage must be at the curb on the day of pick-up by 7:00 a.m. not weighing more than 22kgs/bag.  A limit of 4 bags per collection has also been put in place.

Garbage collection is every week as follows:  Former Sarawak and Derby - Wednesday;  Former Keppel & Shallow Lake - Monday.

Household Hazardous Waste Days 2011 

Hazardous waste materials should be taken to the Owen Sound HHW days at 1900 20th Street East.  Dates this year are:   April 14, May 5, June 2, July 7, Aug 11, Sept 8, Oct 13 & 27.  More information can be found on the City of Owen Sound site. 

Long Term Waste Management Plan

The Township of Georgian Bluffs commissioned the development of a Long Term Waste Management Plan from Gamsby and Mannerow Limited. The draft plan was presented to the Township on September 4, 2009.
